Zaid Baqain
Zaid Baqain has been the Provost of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences since March 2021. He is is a Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a strong passion for education. His expertise spans several years in higher education leadership and education. Before his current engagement, Professor Baqain served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for International Relations, and Dean of Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dubai. Prior to that, he was the Vice President for Scientific Schools at the University of Jordan, and Dean of the School of Dentistry. His current appointments include the Vice Chairmanship of the Arab Board for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and member on the Board of Trustees of Jordan Society for Education. Professor Baqain’s past memberships included those of the Jordan Medical Council, Isra University Board of Trustees, and Jordanian Dental Association Council. He served as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and in July 2021 he was awarded Fellowship Ad Eundem of the College. He is an alumnus of the Senior Dental Leaders and the International Visitor Leadership Programs. Professor Baqain continues his clinical practice at the Dubai Dental Hospital and MBRU affiliated hospitals. His research interests include hard tissue surgery of the jaws and education in dentistry.
