Selection criteria

  • Members

    • PhD in the science, health sciences and engineering and/or technology fields or equivalent years of experience
    • Field-Weighted Citation Impact ≥ 0.4
    • Normally scopus h index ≥ 20
    • Shows community engagement and development
    • Members are considered subject matter experts within their field by their peers
    • iUAE ≥ 5%.
    • 4-year membership

  • Honorary Member

    • A significant contribution and impact in scientific fields.
    • Could include non-scientists
    • Honorary members are not restricted to UAE residents 

  • Young Affiliates

    • Early Career or post-graduate
    • Studying or working in STEM fields with focus on design, development and  research
    • Age: < 35 years old
    • Published in a peer-reviewed indexed journal (Impact Factor >1) and demostraned evidence of scholarship

  • Professional Affiliate

    • PhD in the science, health sciences and engineering and/or technology fields or equivalent years of experience
    • working in science, health & medical services and natural sciences research fields.
    • Field-Weighted Citation Impact≥ 0.4
    • iUAE ≥ 1% & scopus h index ≥ 6
    • Significant contribution in the development of their area of expertise in the UAE
    • +10 years of experience (exceptions for space, nuclear and emerging fields)

Membership Selection Process

Start nominations and submit membership applications
Completion of 1st selection phase
Evaluation of applications by the selection committee
Submission of recommended nominations to the Emirates Scientist Council
Announcement of new members
