Ibrahim Mustafa


Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa received his PhD degree from Masdar Institute in Collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology - A Part of Khalifa University (2018), MEnergy degree from the University of Auckland (2013), and MEngwBM degree from King’s College London (2010). He was granted a full scholarship from the Masdar Institute’s highly talented students award to complete his PhD study. He was also awarded the ‘UAE Innovator Award’ by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for scoring amongst the top 1% of applicants for the Climate Innovation Exchange competition, at the World Future Energy Summit (2018). For his work, he received acknowledgement from a number of governmental entities in the UAE, including the Ministry of Economy during his participation in the UAE Government Accelerators program and Ministry of Advanced Sciences on social media. Out of the several invention disclosures submitted, Dr. Ibrahim has a patent on advanced carbon nanomaterial technology, specialized in the fabrication and production of CNT sheets. He is also a co-founder at ‘Fabcast Solutions’, which is an Emarati company, specialized in the development and production of carbon nanotube sheets for the space and energy storage niche markets. Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa has been working on several research projects, spanning the industries of energy storage, desalination, and space. His interests lie in the development of new materials and new manufacturing methods to enable the commercialization of novel materials for several industries. His work as a scholar has been well established through more than 12 high impact factor publications in peer-reviewed journals and his participation as a speaker in international and national conferences. Being born and raised in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Ibrahim aims to contribute and give back to his society and the government of the UAE; He took an active role in volunteering, including being a participant in Abu Dhabi Police (We Are All Police Initiative), participant in Red Crescent, engineer at Zayed Future Energy Prize Tanzania Project (Engineers without Borders), workshop trainer at the Ektashif Science programs, and workshop trainer at the Young Future Energy Leaders program.
